The Friends of the Public Library helps fund the library’s Summer Reading Program, staff development, community outreach efforts, and more through books and other media sold in the bookshop and at the book sales. Your generous donations and purchases of donated items are vital to our success!

DONATIONS WE ACCEPT

All donations must be gently used and in exceptional resale condition

Fiction and non-fiction, hardcover and paperback books

Antique and collectible books

Commercially recorded CDs (music and audio books), DVDs, and records

Monthly magazines published in the past 6 months

Weekly magazines published in the past 6 weeks

DONATIONS WE DO NOT ACCEPT

Please consider recycling any damaged or otherwise unsellable books

Damaged books (broken spines, missing covers, stained, mildewed)

Textbooks more than 5 years old

Law codes or statutes

Reader’s Digest condensed books

Surplus material from other institutions

Outdated computer, business, current events, medical, travel books and such

Monthly magazines more than 6 months old

Books published by magazines

Cassettes and VHS tapes

HOW TO DONATE

We accept donations Monday – Friday, 10:30 AM – 3 PM.

The donation drop off is at the rear door of the Main Library (north-side alley/staff parking area). When you arrive, call the donation number on the phone at the rear door. Please do not leave bags or boxes outside.

If you can't make your donation during those times or if you have any questions, please give us a call at 505.768.5167.

TAX DEDUCTIONS

Your donation is tax deductible. Although we are unable to assign a dollar value to your donation, we are happy to give you a receipt at the time of drop-off.
